Kamran Akmal took a sharp catch to remove Ricky Ponting, Australia v Pakistan, Group A, World Cup 2011, Colombo, March 19, 2011
Ahmedabad, March 21 : Australian captain Ricky Ponting has said that he is
confident of overhauling his troubled World Cup campaign, and
bounce back to his best form in the 'big games' of the six-week tournament on the Indian sub-continent.
Ponting was dismissed for 19 against Pakistan, which took his batting average for the tournament to 20.4.
"If you look at the tournament so far, I got run out in the first game, stumped down the leg side in the second game off an opening bowler, and [against Pakistan] hit a fair piece of one that you hope to get past the keeper - and it sticks in his glove," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Ponting, as saying.
"It's just the way things are happening for me at the moment. It's been a few games now and I certainly haven't scored the runs I would have liked to have scored in the World Cup so far, but the big games are coming up and, hopefully, I will get some in the quarterfinal," he added.
Australia now faces India in the quarterfinal clash in Ahmedabad after the co-hosts clinched second spot in Group B with a win over West Indies.
