ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 opening ceremony held at Dhaka registered a rating of 9.69 by IMG, just behind the Beijing Olympic (9.78). Even the FIFA WC 2010 opening ceremony lagged with a rating of 9.58. The spectacular event was dotted with presentations like the Aerial cricket and singers like Sonu Nigam and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy look took part in this grand ceremony.
The cultures of the three hosting nations: Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh were shown to the world by performances by well known groups such as the Diya dancers. Captains of the 14 contenders entered the venue in beautifully painted , traditional rickshaws and the honorable Prime-minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Haseena also addressed the people.
